Legowelt - Vaporware Tracks Vol. 1

Well, there you have it. 2015 hasn't even properly started yet but Legowelt is already rolling out his first solo release. With a bunch of Legowelt remixes, internet movies and a Order of the ShadowWolf cyberzine still needed to digest, the mighty Danny Wolfers from The Hague shows absolutely no signs of stopping yet. There have already been rumours of another possible Nacho Patrol album but ofcourse he wouldn't be Danny if he could not work on multiple projects at one time. This is one of the most hard-working electronic musicians we are talking about right here and it's good to see that he will return to the Creme Organization once again for his freshest 12" inch release.

Vaporware Tracks Vol. 1 will consist of four all-new and exclusive four-to-the-floor Legowelt tracks that are absolutely no exception to the producers overall sound. With 'Norwegian Crack Dealer' and 'Southwest British Airlines' on the A-side he adds two stunningly beautiful and colourful tracks to his amazing output. Hazy, trippy and hypnotic are the right words for these. But while the A-side clearly contains that unmistakable trademark Legowelt sound, it's actually the other side of the vinyl that delivers the ones for us.
'Satierian Moon Breeze' starts off with this completely steady and insane drum rhythm. It's sound is punchy and thunderous and extremely stimulating. Ofcourse lots of lush pads and saw wave arpeggio's are layered on top of it so that it successfully leads you to that other dimension. 'The Sea Is So Silent' takes you even further to a world that has a very futuristic and oriental feel to it. It builds even further upon that classic Legowelt palette and closes the release in a way that only Wolfers can do. It probably is our most favourite track from the single and certainly one of those instant Legowelt classics. With such a fine release coming up we can only hope that a volume 2 release will see the light of the day in a very near-future.

Creme Organization will release Vaporware Tracks Vol. 1 through Clone Distribution on black 12" inch vinyl somewhere in early February and can already be pre-ordered through the all-new Wichelroede web-shop that is now officially the place for Creme Organization releases. We are not sure about how many copies there will exist but if you are a true self-respecting space-age techno head you have already ordered your own physical copy.

Episode #058 - NGLY

We are extremely honored to present to you our next guest mix by NGLY. The NGLY project is based somewhere in the northern parts of Berlin and has caused quite a stir in the underground community with it’s recent releases on CCCP and the ever-amazing L.I.E.S. recordings. It’s DIY, dynamic and leftfield approach to techno and house music and it’s distinctive sound immediately caught our attention as soon as we heard it- and have received lots of support from some of the greatest DJ’s around (like Mick Wills, I-F, and Lee Douglas, just to name a few).

Earlier this year, we got in contact with the man behind the NGLY project and offered him to do a guest mix for deathmetaldiscoclub to showcase some of the influences that have shaped the sound of NGLY. He thought the time was right to reveal a tiny bit of his own universe and the things where he is coming from- and since we offered him one hundred percent artistic freedom, it turned out to be an offer he couldn’t refuse.

Episode #057 - Mark Vandemaat

Our newest mix has been submitted by Mark Vandemaat. Mark is one of the founders of Knekelhuis, a collective from Amsterdam that hosts events, radio shows and more recently, has launched it’s very own booking agency and record label.
Since we see a lot of similarities between the Deathmetaldisco crew and the Knekelhuis crew, we invited Mark to represent the Knekelhuis sound as best as he could and the result shows absolutely no remorse. It’s bitter, it’s wild, extremely hazardous and dark.

Episode #054 - Thomas Knobben & Joey Zeelen

We've got two local talents from Amsterdam on the show this week. Joey Zeelen and Thomas Knobben have been playing records for about two years now. We meet them a lot during events in the city and since we have a lot of mutual interest when it comes to music, have grown into good friends of the Death crew over the past 12 months. These are two honest men with an honest sound who'd rather look the other way, instead of following the newest trends in electronic dance music.

Yør - Lack Of Beeing EP

DJ TLR's Creme Organization returns with a whole batch of new releases after the very succesful 'Innershades remix package'. First up, is this very destructive release by the mysterious Yør, who is, according to the press sheet, a Hamburgian Art School prodigy.

The 'Lack of Beeing' title track opens up with haunting pads that will go on for 5 minutes or so, before it's first bassdrum will kick in. Grainy percussion is layered on top of it's merciless 909 kick, that unveil it's filthy nature straight from the first kick and an amazing overdriven bassline takes that filth even way further. This track clocks in at almost 15 minutes, but it's full of balance, with Legowelt-like pads and harsh, distorted claps and enough variation in the composition to hold a crowd's attention, this will be a personal favourite of us for years to come.

The next two tracks continue very much in the same approach, with crazy, filtered and distorted basslines on 'Unbennant' and filthy, low-pass filtered pads on 'Torn'. While both tracks are absolutely mint, it is a bit of a shame that such genius has to suffer in length due to the limited runtime of the vinyl (they both end around the 3-minute mark).
It's closing track 'Apophis' however, is in a class of his own. It's housey/jackin' vibe is a very big contrast to the rude, indecent and muscular techno tracks that run before it. Such contrasts are always a bit risky on a 4-track compilation, but this track is very much welcome after the horrifying madness and we're sure this pumpin' slo-mo jam will find it's way into lots of DJ bags in the coming months.

The 'Lack of Beeing' EP will be released on June 9th, through the Godspill mailorder and we are sure it will find it's way into your favourite record shop not long after that. Pre-order now, cause this one's a winner!

Episode #050 - Mick Wills

We've been puzzling for days to find the right DJ to represent deathmetaldiscoclub #050, our second milestone in the reboot of our guest mix series. Eventually we could call only one name that would satisfy all of our members needs and tastes and represent the deathmetaldiscoclub aesthetic in a perfect way. His name is Mick Wills. He was happy to indulge and we are extremely excited that time has finally arrived for you to check out the result. This really is a perfect fit!

Mick Wills has been one of DJ Hell's Gigolo Records greatest stalwarts for years and he's also an important representative of Traxx's legendary Nation. And there is great reason for this. Mick is one of those very few artists that has always stayed true to his taste. He is absolutely one of the hardest working music diggers in the industry. His selecting skills are truly one of a kind and the combination of his knowledge and technique result into extremely explosive dj sets. Whether it's techno, wave, chicago or italo, he is able to blend it all together into one very consistent story. In fact, Mick is the definition of consistent. He will always give his 200% when it comes to music.
The same goes for his productions, he's been gradually releasing since 2001 (on labels like Tabernacle, Gigolo International, phil e and Minimal Rome). He'd rather release something of amazing quality, than having thirty singles out there that are mediocre. He is not the guy that you'll find on the cover of Mixmag and maybe it is for the better. Because one thing is certain, when it comes music, every choice Mick makes is carefully considered.



Mick Wills has just released a furious remix on Uncanny Valley's Rat Life records and he's also got an amazing new remix for Andreas Gehm's Elec pt. 1 project coming out on Signals. That one could hit the market anytime now.

Cliff Lothar - Skudge White

VA - Prologue Portefeuille 3

The German techno label Prologue has been releasing quality music since their very first release. Focusing on quality rather than on hit potential, they always make us eagerly anticipate every release. Coming up is the third ep in their Prologue Portefeuille series, showcasing three new names from the label’s impressive roster.
The opening track is by Etapp Kyle, an Ukrainian producer/dj who focuses on a somewhat subdued form of techno in ‘Lotos’. The track has an eerie feeling to it, caused by the ambient sounds surrounding the beats, that seem to be held back a bit. An undertow of brooding sensuality gives ‘Lotos’ a sense of mystery that is hard to get away from.

The follow-up track on the A side is ‘Ionization’ by Mod 21, an Italian producer who so far is cloaked in mystery, although this monster of a track might soon propel him to the fore of the techno scene. A modular and ever increasing pulsating throb is steering this track forward till the end, by which time the listener has no idea anymore where he or she is coming from or going to.

The closing track (side B) is probably the strangest one on this ep. Artefakt, a Dutch duo consisting of Robin Koek and Nick Lapien, seem to cater to both ends of the techno spectrum in ‘Twilit’. The bass ne the one hand and an extremely dry snare on the other start closing in on each other and slowly end up filling another up, resulting in quite a funky track. Albeit a funk that is drenched in hypnotism, one of Prologue’s trademarks. A Class A release!

Prologue is releasing the EP on vinyl on the 3rd of February 2014 through Word and Sound distribution and will be available digitally on the 17th of February 2014.

Episode #037 - Flemming Dalum

HE'S BACK! The boss. The king of the cut. Flemming Dalum, the commander of the beat. And we are damn well happy about it! Flemming's previous mix for deathmetaldiscoclub really proved to be a turning point in the reboot of our mix series, we had a lot of amazing response to his exclusive mix and we still do every day, so we couldn't help but say 'yes' once he offered us to do another one. And boy, is he back with a vengeance!!
For this exclusive mix Flemming decided to revisit the unusual part of his mind-boggling record collection. Many people are not aware of the fact that he was a dedicated techno collector in the hey-days of the genre. Flemming has ALL techno records from the '88-'94 techno era and we were really curious to what a Flemming Dalum techno mix would sound like. He did a few short techno mixes for the Cybernetic Broadcasting System/Intergalactic FM, but never really explored the genre to it's fullest. Well, here you go.
Ofcourse he wasn't able to go through all of his techno records for this, but we are absolutely grateful for opening another door to his universe. The result is absolutely relentless. This is techno with a capital T. A brave step for a man who operates in such specific territories, but he's gone way deeper than most techno dj's would dare to nowadays. It is hard, tight and raw as fuck. But with that oldschool human element to it, proving once again that he understands groove and ambiance like no other.


Flemming has just released a new remix on the amazing Disco Modernism for the previously unreleased 'Leave me alone' track by Atelier Folie. He's also got a new remix coming out on the next Red Laser Records EP and there's a ton of other productions and mixes he is working on right now. So keep an eye on the channels that are linked below if you want to know all about his future projects.
For now, HUGH respect to Flemming Dalum, as this is something not every DJ would agree to do. And most importantly, enjoy this absolute monster of a mix!! No tracklist this time!!

Episode #035 - Convert

This week's guest is Convert. A forward-thinking techno DJ/producer who is surrounded by clouds of mystery. The artist involved asked us explicitly to keep his profile as anonymous it can get, so we will have to keep this as low-profile as possible for now.

We do want you to know that he has been sending us some of his tracks in the last couple of weeks and we can only tell you how SUPER-excited we are about the sounds that he delivers. Testing his tracks really fills our eyes with tears of joy! So we definetly advise you to start following him on Soundcloud or Facebook, because we really want you guys to find out, once he's ready to reveal the things he's working on.

This guest mix is a great experimental ride between the colliding worlds of techno and electro. We could try to formulate the feelings that this episode evokes, but words would do unjust. So we decided to keep this description as short as we should and advise you to pick up a good pair of headphones and surrender yourself to this deep, but wonderful universe. Enjoy!

Samanta Fox & Snuffo - Klaus You

Renate Schallplatten is the label of 'Salon Zur Wilden Renate', one of Berlin's most infamous clubs out there. Their 'La Paloma' release by Wareika was a real 2011 hit-single among the typical techhouse and deephouse DJ's, but their second single by Samanta Fox & Snuffo is from another galaxy.
The original mix of 'Klaus You' instantly reminds us of the acid house days. It's sound immediately reminds us of tracks by artists like Phuture and Juan Atkins' Cybotron. But leaning on a sound that has been fully developed before doesn't necessarily have to be a bad thing, when executed in a proper way. 'Klaus You' is one of those examples that real proper techno can still be alive. It's dark, gritty and the word 'filth' is just written all over it.
On remixing duty is Skatebård. The man behind Digitalo Enterprises. This guy from Norway ever gets things right. He always delivers something unique, while keeping the original vibe as intact as can be. This is one of the reasons why he's so in demand as a remixer and this remix is no exception from that. It's interesting to hear him play with such a creepy track, while keeping it so identical to the original version, it seems that Renate couldn't have made a better choice on remixing duties. Subtle remix, but ace for sure.

Renate Schallplatten is releasing 'Klaus You' on November 11th, so this single should be in your favourite record stores anytime soon. Make sure you're going to get this, because we're telling you, this one has every potential to be a serious classic. Vinyl only, samples below.

Antoni Maiovvi - Tapehoarder EP

Craig Bratley's outstanding Magic Feet imprint has been widely known for it's own impressive take on the type of slower-paced dance music championed by artists like Andrew Weatherall and Felix Dickinson these days. Although it has been mosty leaning on the balearic side of the so-called 'nu-disco' genre, the Tapehoarder EP by Antoni Maiovvi probably marks a new era for the label's output.

The first thing that comes to mind is the very uplifting, housey feeling of the opening track, relying heavily on 808 & 909 percussion and claps, makes the track easily classifiable as a peak-time track. It's almost techno, very unusual for the label, but definetly a monster!
Scott Fraser has been on an amazing producing frenzy this year and we are starting to wonder if this guy is even capable of doing wrong. Finding his name on a piece of wax is already worth spending the money on and he delivers the remix on the opening track, taking the track to even further heights with his brutal, phat, trademark sound.

The B-side opens with Maiovvi's very interesting take on minimal techno. Not the kind of over-produced minimal techno that is dominating the clubs these days, but the proper kind hailing from the mid-90's. Combining hypnotising bass with carefully placed synth washes on the higher frequencies and really deep vocals to top things off, makes this a great tool for a very wide range of DJ sets. It's also a great resting point for the EP, as Maiovvi is going full-on again while closing the four-tracker with a really deep and cosmic banger. We have always tried to pick a winner from the releases that we present, but in this case we couldn't. Simply essential!
